About The Position

Pond is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to lead client acquisition and growth in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. This role is ideal for a proven AEC sales professional with experience in pharmaceutical facility environments and a deep understanding of the unique needs of pharma clients. You’ll focus on identifying strategic opportunities, forming long-term partnerships, and enabling cross-disciplinary teams to deliver technical excellence.

You’ll collaborate with market leaders and technical teams across engineering, planning, and architecture to deliver fully integrated solutions for complex pharmaceutical programs nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive new business growth with pharmaceutical manufacturing clients by leveraging industry relationships and technical understanding.
• Own the pursuit lifecycle: market intel, lead generation, proposal strategy, and close.
• Use CRM platforms (Salesforce, Deltek, HubSpot) to maintain pipeline visibility and provide accurate forecasts.
• Develop client-specific pursuit plans and value propositions with proposal and marketing teams.
• Build lasting client relationships rooted in trust, regulatory expertise, and project execution.
• Align internal teams to ensure that project delivery meets regulated environmental expectations.
• Attend key industry events and coordinate site visits with technical and BD team members.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Life Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of B2B sales experience in the AEC industry with focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of how A/E/CM services support facility design, production processes, and validation requirements within regulated Life Science and Biotech environments.
• Proven ability to grow and maintain high-value relationships with pharma clients.
• Familiarity with CRM and sales tools (Salesforce, Deltek, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator) and experience with complex sales cycles.
• Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel 30-50% as needed for client or internal interactions.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with clients undergoing facility retrofits, expansions, or greenfield projects.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards in the industry.
• Participation in ISPE or similar pharma associations.
